Consent and channel preferences
Members can receive messages from your organisation via email, SMS, and push notifications. Two layers of control determine whether a message is sent.
Channel consent
Section titled “Channel consent”At the top level, each member has an overall opt-in for each channel - email, SMS, and push. If a member has opted out of a channel entirely, no messages will be sent to them on that channel, regardless of the message type.
Per-message preferences
Section titled “Per-message preferences”Members can also control individual message types separately. For example, a member might opt out of newsletters while still receiving payment receipts.
When a member has set a preference for a specific message type, that preference takes priority.
Transactional vs marketing messages
Section titled “Transactional vs marketing messages”Message types in Cadence are categorised as either transactional or marketing.
- Transactional messages (such as payment receipts or enrolment confirmations) are sent by default to any member who has the channel enabled, unless they have specifically opted out of that message type.
- Marketing messages (such as newsletters or promotional campaigns) are not sent by default - the member must have explicitly opted in to that message type.
